So you’re getting married? Congratulations! Now starts all of the fun, but with so many decisions to be made our brides often ask us for advice on timings and frequently asked questions.
When is a good time
to start looking for my dress?
Every bride is different and this is very personal to you but we would advise looking for your dress around 9-12 months in advance. This does not however mean that we need this amount of time to order your gown in. We have some of the worlds best designers and we can order all our gowns to arrive within a 6 month period with a further 8 weeks for alterations.
Allowing 12 months takes away the pressure as some brides do find it tricky to find their perfect dress so allowing this amount of time will ensure you don’t have to panic and you can make a clear decision.
Don’t panic if you have less than 6 months as we are able to get certain designers and styles in much quicker than this so we are always able to help.
are your sample dresses?
8 to 24 – Bridal sizes do tend to differ slightly to regular sizing so don’t be put off if you have to go up a size or two.
Do I have to book
to try on wedding dresses?
Yes we would prefer you to book your appointment where possible as this allows us to dedicate our full time and attention to you. We are open to customers being able to walk in Monday – Saturday however unfortunately if we are with a bride we will not be able to assist you due to us giving our undivided attention to our appointment.
Our Bridal area is completely private away from any other customers and has a very calm tranquil feel. First trial appointments last approximately 1.5 hours so we have enough time to get to know you and make this the relaxing and enjoyable experience you deserve. Re-trial appointments last 45 minutes. Veil & Accessories appointments last 1 hour. Fittings with seamstress are arranged independently.
How many guests
can I bring with me?
We offer private appointments in our bridal boutique, which can comfortably accommodate upto 4 guests. In the excitement of trying on wedding dresses, it’s really tempting to bring Mum, Gran, Great Gran, Best Friend, Aunty, Cousin and Six Bridesmaids, but we can tell you as a matter of fact that this can lead to making the experience more stressful for you! Too many opinions can be conflicting, confusing and overwhelming, so we suggest a maximum of four guests. Once you have chosen your dress you are more than welcome to book a date to bring more of your chosen party along to view you in the dress before the big day if you wish to do so.
What do I need to wear
(underwear wise) for my appointment?
It’s always advisable to wear a pair of seam free nude knickers if possible and a nude strapless bra, however don’t panic if you don’t have either as with most dresses you don’t need to wear a bra due to them being boned and padded and we can work with the knickers that you have.
We provide you with shoes however if you have already bought your dream wedding shoes please bring them along as we absolute love a good pair of heels!
How many dresses will I get to try on, and how long will the appointment be?
We advise you to pick around 4/5 dresses at the start of your appointment and then once we have a better understanding of what you are/not liking we will select some gowns that we think will be good for you. Be open when it comes to trying different styles on, let us pick some for you, as they are normally the dresses you end up going for. Don’t forget we see lots on girls in dresses every day, and know what will suit your figure best whilst also ensuring we compliment your own style.
The dresses always look different on hangers. They also look very different on models you see online so be open minded and you will find the most perfect dress for you.
do I pay?
If you find your perfect wedding dress with us we require a 50% deposit at the point of ordering and then the remaining balance is not due until your dress arrives into the boutique which is around 16 weeks prior to your big day. Please be aware that we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges and that all sales are therefore final.
Sample Sale gowns must be paid in full at the time of ordering.
Do you provide
a fitting service?
Yes we do, we have a team of in house seamstress who come into the boutique to complete all our bridal alterations. Alterations are chargeable and this is paid to the seamstress at the point of collection your gown. We can give a rough indication of alterations costs at your appointment and also during your fittings.
How far in advance of my wedding will my fitting take place?
Your first fitting will take place 12 weeks prior to your big day, then your subsequent fittings will follow sometimes up to a week prior to the day depending on what you are having done. We start your fittings so close to the wedding as most women tend to loose weight in the run up to the day, so this is to ensure we get a perfect fit.
are the dresses?
The collection starts at around £1,200 and goes up to about £3,500. We are totally transparent about budgets and ask for you to guide us. We don’t want to put you in a dress way over your price range and ruin your experience. We also have an amazing of ex-samples that range from £250 – £1200 so let us know if you want to see those too.
